RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After going 2-1 in their first three home Great American Conference matches of the season, the Arkansas Tech women's tennis team will travel to Arkadelphia, Ark. on Saturday for its first GAC road contest of the season against Henderson State.
The Golden Suns (14-5 overall, 2-1 GAC) are coming off a 9-0 straight set sweep over Ouachita Baptist (0-15 overall, 0-5 GAC) on Thursday. The Suns only gave up three points in their three doubles matches against the Tigers while
Annabel Rowlands,
Haeleigh Long, and
Maria Vlaskina each picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories in their singles matches.
The Suns will face the Reddies for the 49th time since 1992 and while the all-time series is notched up at 24-24, the Golden Suns have defeated the Reddies in 16 consecutive matches dating back to the 2009-2010 season.
It will be the second time the Suns and Reddies will face each other this season as Arkansas Tech won a non-conference match against Henderson State 7-2 on March 16 at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
Tomorrow's match is slated for a 2 p.m. start at the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center.
