RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Coming off its first conference win on Tuesday afternoon over Southern Nazarene, the Arkansas Tech women's tennis team (13-5, 1-1 GAC) looks to build off its play versus the Crimson Storm as it hosts its second match in two days by welcoming the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist (0-14, 0-4 GAC) to the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex Thursday, April 6.
Tuesdays match saw great play in both doubles and singles competition. The duo of
Haeleigh Long and
Kami Ward gave the Suns a strong start with an 8-1 win in the No. 3 doubles match. Sophomore
Annabel Rowlands won her 11
th singles match of the spring season, taking No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Haeleigh Long pushed the Suns to a 6-3 win in No. 6 singles, taking the match over Judit Mas by winning a tiebreaker in the third set 10-8.
The Golden Suns remain at 10
th place latest ITA Tennis Central Region poll. Senior
Macarena Sedano Acosta ranks 10
th in the region for singles competition followed by
Tamara Bell in 19
th. The duo of Acosta and Bell also rank 8
th in the Central Region for doubles competition.
