Box Score BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3 seeded Arkansas Tech women's tennis team started off strong in the Great American Championships as the Golden Suns defeated sixth-seeded Ouachita Baptist 5-0 in the quarterfinal round at the Walton Life Tennis Center in Bentonville, Ark. on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Kami Ward got the Golden Suns off to a strong start as she hit a winner just inside the backline to give the No. 2 doubles team of Ward and Annabel Rowlands an 8-0 victory. Moments later, the No. 3 doubles team Haeleigh Long and Vandella Suico would get an 8-0 win of their own to take a 2-0 lead.
• Macarena Sedano Acosta and Teresa Sanchez were locked in a battle in the No. 1 doubles match, but with the match tied 4-4, the duo rattled off four straight points to pull out an 8-4 win.
• Rowlands continued her strong play in singles competition as the No. 4 singles player sealed her victory with an ace to come away with a straight-set shutout.
• Ward would seal the match for the Suns as she picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 3 singles match.
