RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team is ready to open postseason play as the third-seeded Golden Suns will face No. 6 seed Ouachita Baptist in the first round of the Great American Conference Championships in Bentonville, Ark. on Thursday.
This year's GAC Championships will be played at the Memorial Park Tennis Complex in Bentonville from April 20-22.
Arkansas Tech (15-7, 3-3 GAC) will look to snap a two-match losing streak heading into the tournament, but will face a Tigers team that the Suns have had recent success against.
The Golden Suns have won 16 straight matchups against the Tigers dating back to the 2007-2008 season, including two 9-0 victories earlier this season.
Tech defeated OBU 9-0 in a non-conference match on March 7 in Arkadelphia, Ark. and then defeated the Tigers again 9-0 on April 6 at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
If the Golden Suns advance, they would face No. 2 seed Harding (14-6, 4-2 GAC) in the semifinal round on Friday.
The quarterfinal matches are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. tomorrow.
