TECH SOFTBALL SET FOR WEEKEND SERIES IN ARKADELPHIA

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns will be on the road this weekend for a four-game series against Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark. The Suns will take on the Reddies in a doubleheader set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, before finishing the series with a doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Henderson State leads the all-time series against Arkansas Tech, 36-25. The Golden Suns swept a four-game series against the Reddies last season, but Henderson State got revenge with a 6-0 victory over Tech in the conference tournament.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN SUNS
Arkansas Tech (13-7, 7-1 GAC) has won seven of its last eight games, including three consecutive victories over Ouachita to take the series, 3-1, last weekend. The Suns are currently tied with Harding for second in the Great American Conference standings.
 
The Golden Suns are hitting .299 as a team this season, fifth-best batting average in the conference. Sydnie Henson leads Tech with a .417 batting average, and she is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak. Megan Goodnight has jumped to third on the team in batting average after hitting .462 with two home runs and eight runs batted in last weekend against Ouachita.
 
Tech ranks fourth in the GAC in earned-run average, while limiting opponents to hit just .222. The Suns leads the conference in strikeouts and fewest home runs allowed. Morgan Vaughan has posted the fourth-lowest earned-run average in the GAC this season at 1.62. She also leads Division II with four saves. Jalissa Gum has held opponents to hit just .167, the lowest opponent batting average in the GAC. Gum ranks second in Division II with 109 strikeouts this season.
 
SCOUTING THE REDDIES
Henderson State (9-11, 3-5 GAC) enters the weekend after dropping four games to Harding last weekend. Before the series in Searcy, the Reddies had won their previous eight games, including a four-game sweep of Oklahoma Baptist to open GAC play.
 
The Reddies have posted a .280 batting average this season, while limiting opponents to hit just .230. Keirsten Seahorn is hitting a team-high .356 and leads the Reddies with 16 runs batted in. Courtney Warren is hitting .344 and leads HSU with nine doubles and a .578 slugging percentage.
 
Henderson sits right behind Tech in the conference with a 2.90 earned-run average. Michelle Sorensen leads the GAC with 17 appearances and 73.0 innings pitched, and she ranks fourth with 66 strikeouts.
