GOLDEN SUNS WIN TWICE TO TAKE SERIES FROM OUACHITA

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Jalissa Gum pitched her second complete-game shutout of the season, and Janie Knowles tallied two of Arkansas Tech's five home runs in the Golden Suns two wins over Ouachita on Saturday. Tech took the first game, 5-0, before winning the series, 3-1, with a 9-1 victory in game two.

  • The two wins keep Arkansas Tech in a two-way tie with Harding for second place in the Great American Conference standings.
  • Gum allowed just three hits in game one's shutout victory, and she also struck out 12 batters. Gum has recorded at least 10 strikeouts in seven of 10 starts this season.
  • Vaughan earned her team-leading fifth win of the season after pitching four scoreless innings in game two. The game ended in the fifth inning after an RBI-double by Coronado put the Golden Suns ahead by eight runs.
  • Goodnight led all players with five RBI in the two games combined, while Coronado, Gum, Knowles and Sangster each batted in two runs.
