GOODNIGHT’S WALK-OFF BLAST SEALS DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP FOR GOLDEN SUNS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.  – Megan Goodnight belted a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th inning in the final game of the day to seal a doubleheader sweep for the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team (21-12, 15-6 Great American Conference), as Tech downed East Central (19-14, 10-11) 3-0 and 1-0.

  • Morgan Vaughan pitched into the fifth inning, allowing three hits and fanning seven. Over one stretch, Vaughan fanned six straight.
  • Bailey Shaffer and Cara Tolar combined to pitch six shutout innings in relief. Shaffer surrendered three hits while fanning four in three innings, while Tolar allowed one hit and one walk, fanning two in three innings of work.
  • Gum picked up the win after entering in the top of the 11th with runners on the corners and nobody out and fanned three straight hitters to get out of the jam.
  • Goodnight belted the second pitch she saw over the left-field fence to give Tech the sweep.
