RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Coming off its spring break trip to Florida, the Arkansas Tech women's tennis team (11-4) will close out non-conference play with a rematch against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-17) Tuesday afternoon at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
The Suns are coming off a 3-1 week in Florida, which included three neutral site wins over SCAD-Atlanta, Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, and Palm Beach Atlantic at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
In their most recent match, the Golden Suns rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Palm Beach Atlantic 5-4 on Friday. Sophomore
Teresa Sanchez began the comeback in No. 2 singles, topping Leoni Polzin 6-1, 6-4 while
Maria Vlaskina produced a three-set win in No. 6 singles to give Arkansas Tech the victory.
The Golden Suns dominated the Golden Lions in their previous meeting on Feb. 16, shutting out UAPB 7-0 in Pine Bluff, Ark. The Suns only allowed the Golden Lions to win four games in both singles and doubles play. UAPB will enter Tuesday's match following a 4-3 loss to Ozark Christian College on Saturday.
