GOLDEN SUNS HOST OUACHITA FOR HOME OPENER THIS WEEKEND

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech softball will host its first home game of the season this weekend, as the Golden Suns take on Ouachita in a four-game series. Play begins on Friday, March 3, with a doubleheader set for 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday scheduled for noon.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Arkansas Tech leads the all-time series against Ouachita, 35-18. The Golden Suns have swept Ouachita in each of the past two seasons, riding an eight-game win streak against the Tigers.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN SUNS
Arkansas Tech (10-6, 4-0 GAC) opened Great American Conference play with a four-game sweep for the second consecutive season, defeating Northwestern Oklahoma in four games last weekend. The Suns are one of just two teams still undefeated in GAC play.
 
The Golden Suns rank seventh in the conference in team batting average and sixth in team earned-run average. Jalissa Gum leads Tech and ranks sixth in the GAC with a .411 batting average, while ranking fourth with 17 runs batted in. Sydnie Henson has batted .404 this season, and Sarah Coronado has reached base in 15 consecutive games.
 
Morgan Vaughan leads Tech's pitching staff with a 1.58 earned-run average this season. She has appeared in 13 of 16 games this season and leads the GAC with four saves. Vaughan's nine saves in her career are currently tied for first in Arkansas Tech program history. Gum has pitched 46.1 innings this season, and her 90 strikeouts are 26 more than any other player in the conference. Gum's 381 career strikeouts are the most in Arkansas Tech program history.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Ouachita (9-7, 3-1 GAC) is coming off a 3-1 series win over Southern Nazarene last weekend, snapping a four-game losing streak in nonconference play. The Tigers are just ninth in the GAC in batting average, but Ouachita's 1.85 earned-run average this season ranks second in the conference.
 
Macy Wilson leads the Tigers with a .333 batting average in 16 games this season, while Sarah Johnson has batted in a team-high 10 runs. Ouachita has used just three pitchers so far this season to post the second lowest ERA in the conference, as Kelsey O'Brien leads the Tigers with 45.2 innings pitched. Marissa Butler leads the conference in opponent batting average.
