LOVE AND KLOCKOWSKI HOMER AS TECH TAKES SERIES WIN OVER SNU

BETHANY, Okla. – Home runs by Kyle Love and Zach Klockowski carried Arkansas Tech to a 3-2 victory over Southern Nazarene on Saturday, after losing the first game of the doubleheader, 8-1. The Wonder Boys took the series win, 2-1, with the victory in game two.

NOTABLES
  • Tech took the first lead of game one on a double by Klockowski in the first inning. The Crimson Storm (2-23, 2-13 GAC) scored the games next eight runs, however, including a five-run seventh inning, to take the second game of the three-game series.
  • Armstrong suffered just his second loss of the season in game one, snapping a streak of four starts without a loss.
  • The Wonder Boys took the first lead once again in the second game, on Love's first home run of the season. Wheeler then added to the lead later in the fifth inning with an RBI-single.
  • With one out in the top of the sixth, Tech added one more insurance run on Klockowski's team-leading seventh homer of the season.
  • Birkemeier started on the mound for the Wonder Boys in game two, totaling 5.1 innings and four strikeouts. After Birkemeier allowed a sixth-inning home run that pulled the Storm within one run, Bowling entered the game and pitched a perfect 1.2 innings for his third save of the year.
  • With the split doubleheader, the Wonder Boys remain in second in the Great American Conference standings, two games behind Southern Arkansas.
