JOSEPH, Mo. – After a come from behind 5-4 victory over Newman (2-2) on Saturday, the Arkansas Tech women's tennis team (5-0) continued their exceptional play by defeating host Missouri Western (2-3) and Maryville (4-3) on day two of the Missouri Western Winter Invitational at the Genesis Health Club in St. Joseph, Mo.

The Golden Suns captured wins over two regionally ranked teams on the weekend by defeating Newman, the No. 8 ranked team in the South Central Region, and Maryville, the seventh-ranked team in the Midwest Region.

- Arkansas Tech will host its first home match of the spring season as it welcomes John Brown (1-2) to the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 between the Golden Suns and Golden Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doubles play was tightly contested with two matches going to a tiebreaker. While Acosta and Bell unfortunately dropped their tiebreaker, Haeleigh Long and Vandella Suico responded with a 9-8 tiebreak win of their own in the No. 3 doubles match to send the Suns into singles play with a 2-1 advantage.
- After Maryville fought back to tie it at 2-2 in the No. 3 singles match, The Suns took the next three with Tamara Bell, Annabel Rowlands, and Kami Ward each winning their singles matches to come away with the 5-2 win.
