RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech tennis team is set for its spring season opener as the Golden Suns will travel to Arkadelphia this Saturday to take on Delta State in a neutral site match.
This will be the fifth meeting between the Golden Suns and Lady Statesmen dating back to the 2009-2010 season. Delta State leads the all-time series 3-1 after beating Arkansas Tech 7-2 last year.
The Golden Suns bring back four of their top players from last season.
Macarena Sedano Acosta finished the 2016 season as an All-GAC First Team selection, followed by
Tamara Bell,
Teresa Sanchez, and
Annabel Rowlands as All-GAC Second Team selections.
The Suns look to capitalize on strong roster depth coming off strong fall performances by senior
Vandella Suico, sophomore
Maria Vlaskina, as well as freshmen
Megan Bell and
Kami Ward.
Arkansas Tech was selected as the favorite in the 2017 Great American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday, Feb. 1. earning 31 votes and three first-place votes.
Play will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 in Arkadelphia, Ark.
