WONDER BOYS SHOOT PAST MINERS

ROLLA, Mo. – R.J. Glasper turned in a 26-point, six-rebound performance, Freddy Lee had a 10-point, 10-assist double-double, leading five Wonder Boys to reach double figures in points as Arkansas Tech (9-1) picked up a 96-81 win over Missouri S&T (2-8) on Sunday afternoon in Rolla.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Missouri S&T took an early advantage in the opening minutes of the game, utilizing a 9-0 run to open up an 11-5 run just over five minutes into the contest.
  • From there, Glasper took over, scoring 12 consecutive points and 14 points in a 16-0 Tech run that gave the Wonder Boys a 16-point (29-13) advantage with 9:45 to play in the half.
  • The Miners battled back with a run of their own, scoring the game's next eight points to pull within 29-21.
  • The Wonder Boys pushed ahead again, taking as much as an 18-point (50-32) lead before Missouri S&T hit a free throw just prior to the half to set the Tech lead at 50-33 at the half.
  • An 11-0 run to open the second half gave Tech a 61-33 advantage with 17:12 to play.
  • Tech stretched its lead to 28 (74-46) with 12:17 to play, but the Miners used a 13-0 advantage to pull to within 15 (74-59) and force a timeout with 9:26 to play.
  • The Miners pulled to within 13 (81-68) after a layup by Ervin Sarajlic with 6:57 to play.
  • S&T cut the Tech lead to 10 (87-77) with 90 seconds to play, but the Wonder Boys outscored the Miners 9-4 down the stretch to seal the 15-point win.
NOTABLES
  • Glasper had 22 points in the opening half, shooting 8-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-6 from long-range.
  • The Wonder Boys forced 12 first-half turnovers and scored 19 points off those turnovers.
  • Tech outscored the Miners 15-3 on the fast break in the opening half.
  • Glasper's 26 points led all players, while Harris Brown (17 pts), Mason Cline (11 pts), Lee (10 pts) and Alex Brown (10 pts) all hit double figures in the win.
  • Glasper also led Tech with six boards.
  • MST outrebounded Tech 49-38, but the Wonder Boys forced 18 Miners turnovers while committing only eight.
  • Tech shot 44.7 percent from the floor to the Miners' 43.5 percent.
  • The Wonder Boys made the most of their trips to the charity stripe, connecting on 13-of-16 attempts.
  • The Wonder Boys were 15-of-41 from the 3-point arc, including a perfect 3-of-3 by Lee.
  • Tech outscored MST 28-9 off turnovers and 21-10 on fast-break points for the game.
