RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys will return to action in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 19, traveling to Tahlequah, Okla. to square off against Northeastern State.
Tip-off from the NSU Event Center is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be carried live on 102.3-FM (KCJC) in Russellville.
The Wonder Boys (7-1) are riding a five-game win streak into this non-conference matchup, most recently downing Hendrix 93-68. The game is a rematch of a contest from just under one month ago, when the RiverHawks visited Russellville. The Wonder Boys won that contest 88-76, and the RiverHawks have not won since.
Five players reached double figures in that contest, including a 20-point effort by RJ Glasper and a 14-point, 15-rebound performance by Alex Brown. Tech made nine 3-pointers in the winning effort, but more importantly, Tech made the most of its trips to the charity stripe, connecting on 23 of 26 attempts.
Meanwhile, Northeastern State (3-7) turned around after its game with the Wonder Boys and faced the heart of the MIAA schedule, dropping its next game 99-56 to defending national champion and current No. 1 Northwest Missouri State. A pair of close losses followed, but the RiverHawks have not been able to get back into the win column since a win over Oklahoma Baptist on Nov. 21.
Jamir Andrews' 15.0 points per game pace the River Hawks, and the senior is NSU's lone player to average in double figures. Andrews was held to three points on 1-of-8 shooting in the first matchup between the two teams.
