RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team will return to action this Saturday, Nov. 25, hosting Northeastern State University in a 2 p.m. matchup at Tucker Coliseum.
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (3-1, 1-1 GAC) enters the match after splitting its first two Great American Conference games, falling 90-86 in overtime to East Central on Nov. 16 and defeating Southeastern Oklahoma State 84-82 on a last second 3-pointer on Nov. 18. The Wonder Boys currently rank first in the GAC in scoring, averaging 95.3 points per game.
RJ Glasper paces Tech with 16.0 points per game. Alex Brown averages 14.5 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Harris Brown also averages double-digits in scoring with 13.3 points per game, H. Brown also ranks seventh in the GAC with 3.8 assists per contest.
Taking care of the basketball has been a key for the Wonder Boys success this season, as Tech is second in the conference in both turnover margin and assist/turnover ratio. Arkansas Tech tops the conference with 11.5 three-pointers made per game, as well.
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
Northeastern State has a 2-2 overall record after defeating Ecclesia College 73-46 on Saturday. The Riverhawks second win came with a 75-63 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State. Northeastern's losses came against Northwestern Oklahoma State (61-50) and Rogers State (62-54).
Jamir Andrews leads the Riverhawks offense, averaging 14.3 points per game. Lucas Antunez follows with 9.0 points per contest to go along with a team-high 2.8 assists. Northeastern is shooting 35.2 percent from the floor this season while holding opponents to just 41.1 percent. NSU finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 5-23 overall record and registered a 12th-place 4-15 MIAA mark.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Arkansas Tech has a 21-20 lead over Northeastern State in a series which started in the 1948-49 season. The Wonder Boys claimed a 67-55 home win in the last meeting (11/28/14) between the two teams. When facing Northeastern, Tech is 17-5 at home, 3-15 on the road, and 1-0 on neutral sites.
