RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Following completion of the first undefeated regular season in program history, Arkansas Tech volleyball will begin postseason play on Thursday in the Great American Conference Volleyball Championships in Hot Springs. The top-seeded Golden Suns' first-round match will be against eighth-seeded Southeastern Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. at Bank of the Ozarks Arena.
Arkansas Tech (32-0, 16-0 GAC) was ranked eighth in the latest AVCA Division II Top-25 Poll. The Suns dropped two spots to 10th in the NCAA Central Regional Rankings, however, despite being one of only two remaining undefeated teams in Division II.
Tech finished the regular season ranked third in Division II in hitting percentage and seventh in opponent hitting. The Golden Suns' 32 wins are the most among 285 Division II teams, and Arkansas Tech leads the GAC in hitting, opponent hitting, assists and kills.
Southeastern Oklahoma State (13-19, 8-8) defeated East Central in its final conference match of the season, but the Savage Storm are coming off a three-set loss to Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday. Southeastern ranks fourth in the conference in digs per set, as SOSU's Caitlin Cosby led the GAC with 5.97 digs per set this season.
Arkansas Tech defeated Southeastern, 3-1, in this season's previous match. Tech posted a .255 attack percentage with 61 kills in the victory, while the Storm were held to hit just .147 with 41 kills. Tabitha Spray led Arkansas Tech with 15 kills, followed by Lexie Johnston with 14. Amanda Milnick finished with 47 assists, and Madison Nagel added 20 digs.
