RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Tech volleyball will look for its 30th consecutive win on Thursday, as the Golden Suns host the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas. The Great American Conference contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Tucker Coliseum.
Fans are encouraged to bring granola bars to donate to River Valley Food 4 Kids, as part of Tech's Fight On Against Childhood Hunger campaign. Donations will be collected in the north entrance tunnel to Tucker Coliseum.Â
Arkansas Tech (29-0, 13-0) enters the match ranked 10th in the AVCA Division II Top 25 and eighth in the Division II Central Region, after the Suns defeated Arkansas-Monticello in three sets on Tuesday for their 29th straight win. Tech will try to become the first team in Division II this season to reach 30 victories, as the Suns are one of just two remaining undefeated teams in the nation.
Arkansas Tech is currently one of two teams in Division II with a team attack percentage of at least .300, and the Suns rank third in Division II in opponent attack percentage (.094). Tech is the only team in the GAC limiting opponents to less than 10 kills and 10 assists per set, and the Suns have also allowed the least amount of service aces and blocks.Â
Southern Arkansas (8-20, 1-12) sits 12th in the GAC standings after suffering a three-set loss to Harding on Tuesday. The Muleriders earned their first conference victory last Thursday, defeating Arkansas-Monticello, 3-1. Alexa Bass ranks second in the GAC with 42 service aces this season, and Alexia Southern leads SAU with 2.75 kills per set.Â
