REDDIES HOLD OFF LATE COMEBACK FROM GOLDEN SUNS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns suffered their first Great American Conference loss of the season, dropping a four-set match to the Henderson State Reddies (25-19, 27-25, 21-25, 25-21).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Arkansas Tech (8-7, 3-1 GAC) fell behind early in both sets one and two, before the Golden Suns finally took their first lead of the match in the third set.
  • Henderson State (7-9, 2-2 GAC) posted a higher attack percentage in all four sets, finishing to hit .147 for the match. The Golden Suns hit .117 in the loss, the lowest in a conference match this season.
  • In the third set, Tech took its first lead of the match after a 4-0 run put the Golden Suns ahead, 7-4. The Golden Suns took their largest lead of eight points on two separate occasions, and after a 7-2 run by the Reddies, Tech closed out the set with two consecutive kills.
  • Tech took the early advantage in the fourth set, opening on an 8-1 run. Henderson responded immediately, however, with a 12-1 run to take back the lead, which the Reddies held until taking the match in the fourth set.

NOTABLES
  • Hunter Eshnaur produced another double-double effort, getting 16 kills and 14 digs. Eshnaur has recorded a double-double in 10 matches this season and has finished with at least 10 kills in 14 of 15 matches.
  • Amanda Milnick and Sarah Rosinke also added double-doubles of their own, as Milnick finished with a team-high 22 assists to go with 13 digs. Rosinke followed with 18 assists and 11 digs to earn her fifth double-double.
  • Madison Nagel anchored the defense with 16 digs, and Matti Dix finished with 11.

NEXT UP
  • The Golden Suns return to conference play on Thursday, Sept. 29, as Tech takes on the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms in Monticello. The team then takes a three-match break from GAC play, starting with a Friday contest against St. Edward's in Tucker Coliseum.
