GOLDEN SUNS READY FOR REDDIES

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech volleyball will try to move to 4-0 in the Great American Conference on Tuesday, as the Golden Suns host Henderson State in Tucker Coliseum. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Henderson (6-9, 1-2 GAC) is coming off a five-set loss to Southern Arkansas last Thursday. The Reddies defeated Arkansas-Monticello last Tuesday, however, to earn their first 3-0 conference victory since October of 2012. HSU also dropped a three four-set match to Harding for its first conference loss.

With six wins this season, the Reddies already have the most victories in a year since 2012. Henderson's biggest win of the season so far came in a 3-1 triumph over No. 7 Tampa, the largest upset-win for the Reddies in more than ten years.  Henderson is currently ranked fourth in the GAC in blocks, and Sharon Tukuaoga ranks second with 3.65 kills per set.

The Golden Suns (8-6, 3-0 GAC) latest conference victory came last Thursday, as Tech defeated Ouachita, 3-1. Arkansas Tech has also beaten Harding, 3-0, and Southern Arkansas, 3-0.

In conference matches only, Tech sits at the top of the GAC in kills and assists. The Golden Suns also rank second in hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage. Kaylee Konsella leads the team in hitting during conference matches with a .390 attack percentage, third best in the conference.

After her play in Tech's wins over Harding and Ouachita, Hunter Eshnaur was named the GAC Offensive Player of the Week. Eshnaur recorded 33 kills on a .373 attack percentage in just seven sets of volleyball. She currently sits in first in the conference in kills in GAC matches.

Arkansas Tech is 32-25 all-time against the Reddies, with the Golden Suns winning the past 16 matches, dating back to 2007. Live stats, video and audio will be available for the Tuesday night match at www.arkansastechsports.com.
