RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The No. 8 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team (41-6, 31-5 Great American Conference) will close the 2016 regular season this Friday and Saturday, hosting Northwestern Oklahoma (10-38, 8-30 GAC) in a four-game set at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex. 

Friday's doubleheader is set for a 3 p.m. start while Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon. 

The Golden Suns enter the weekend with a magic number of two to claim the first outright conference championship in school history. In the process, the Golden Suns would lock in the overall No. 1 seed in the upcoming GAC championship tournament in Bentonville. 

Arkansas Tech also enters the weekend one win shy of its previous season record for wins (42), set during the 2009 season. 

The Golden Suns will honor seniors Kelsie Barker, Samantha Herweck, and Kambri Hill before the first pitch of Saturday's doubleheader.
