BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Fatima Adams turned in a 34-point, 12-rebound performance, while
Bre Brooks chipped in 21 points, six boards, and six assists as the No. 15 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (26-3) rolled to a 106-85 win over Southwestern Oklahoma (20-11) in the championship game of the 2016 Great American Conference tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The two teams traded leads over the first five minutes of the contest, but a jumper by Fatima Adams at the 5:08 mark of the opening quarter knotted the contest and started a 15-5 run for the Golden Suns.
- Tech held a double-figure lead in the closing two minutes of the quarter before SWOSU narrowed the gap to seven (28-21) at the end of the quarter.
- The Golden Suns once again pushed the lead into double figures (32-21) in the second quarter after a 3-pointer by Bre Brooks 30 seconds into the period.
- SWOSU got off to a fast start, however, using a 9-0 run to pull to within one (36-35) with 6:43 to play in the half.
- After Tech stretched its lead back out to six (43-37) with 4:03 to play, the Golden Suns took a nine-point (53-44) lead in the closing minute of the half before SWOSU cut the Tech lad to seven (53-46) at the half.
- A 3-pointer by Brooks stretched Tech's lead to 12 (60-48) with 7:47 to go in the quarter.
- SWOSU's Janae Coffee scored six straight points to pull the Bulldogs to within six (60-54) with 6:44 remaining in the third quarter.
- Brooks drained another 3-pointer with 4:57 on the clock to stretch Tech's lead back to ten (66-56) at the third-quarter media timeout (4:39 mark).
- Tech took its largest lead of the game (14 points) to that point with a layup by Kelsey McClure with 1:43 remaining in the quarter.
- SWOSU narrowed the Tech lead to 11 (85-74) with 7:51 to play.
- A layup by McClure with 5:50 to play gave Tech a 16-point lead (93-77) with 5:50 remaining – the lead was Tech's largest to that point.
- Adams made a fast-break layup with 3:17 remaining to push Tech's lead to 20 (97-77), and stretched its point total into triple digits at the 1:35 mark on a 3-pointer by Pounds.
NOTABLES- Adams finished the first half with 26 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
- Pounds scored 19 points, while White added 12 in the win.
- Adams was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, while Brooks and McClure were named to the all-tournament team.
- Tech held a 43-29 rebounding advantage, a 21-13 advantage in points off turnovers, a 25-20 advantage in second-chance points, an 18-17 advantage in bench points, and an 18-2 advantage in fast-break points. SWOSU led paint points 42-40.
