GOLDEN SUNS RALLY ON A WALKOFF PLAY TO SWEEP THE SAVAGE STORM

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The No. 4 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team (30-3, 20-2 Great American Conference) rallied from three-run deficit in the second game of the doubleheader to win on a walkoff play and sweep Southeastern Oklahoma (20-12, 16-6) 5-1, 5-4 Saturday afternoon at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
 
In the second game, the Golden Suns trailed 4-3 with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning when Janie Knowles hit a grounder to the SOSU shortstop Mykaela Wallace. Her throw sailed trying to get Knowles out at first and both Jalissa Gum as well as Destiny Crumpley came around to score to give Tech the walkoff victory. With the Saturday sweep, Arkansas Tech took three out of the four games in the series and maintain first place in the Great American Conference.
 
NEXT UP
  • The Golden Suns will travel to Searcy, Ark. on Tuesday, March 29 to take on Harding for a midweek doubleheader. The first game is slated for a 2 p.m. start time.
