RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The No. 16 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (15-2, 9-0) will head west for its final Oklahoma swing of the 2015-16 season, squaring off on Thursday against Oklahoma Baptist and then facing off against Southern Nazarene on Saturday.
Thursday's game in Shawnee, Okla. is set for 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's game in Bethany is set for a 1 p.m. tip.Â
PREVIOUS MEETINGSThe Golden Suns met both Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene earlier in the season, with Tech sweeping the two meetings in style - Tech topped OBU 88-58 on Dec. 3 in Tucker Coliseum, then topped SNU 90-63 two days later.Â
THE OBU SERIESTech and OBU are tied 2-2 in the series between the two schools dating back to 1984. Prior to the meeting earlier this season, the two teams had not played since Ronald Reagan was President. OBU held a 2-1 advantage for the '80s - winning the first meeting 70-69 in 1984 and the second meeting 64-56 in 1987. The teams' final meeting of the '80s was a Tech win, 66-42, in November of 1988.Â
THE SNU SERIESThe Golden Suns hold an all-time 10-4 advantage in the series with Southern Nazarene, dating back to the 1985-86 season. Tech held a 4-3 advantage in the pre-GAC era, and since the series resumed in 2012-13, Tech has won six of seven, including five straight.Â
