GOLDEN SUNS ROLL PAST COTTON BLOSSOMS

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Kelsey McClure and Aujana Dawkins turned in a team-best 18 points apiece, Calli White added 17 points, Anissa Pounds scored 16, and Bre Brooks scored 10 as the No. 14 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (21-3, 19-1 Great American Conference) rolled to a 106-67 win over Arkansas-Monticello (11-13, 8-12 GAC) on Saturday at Steelman Fieldhouse. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tech scored the first six points of the game over the opening 90 seconds of the contest.
  • UAM pulled to within three (10-7) after a layup by Nikki Mullen with 5:48 to go in the opening quarter, but the Golden Suns used an 11-0 run to take a 21-7 lead with 1:47 remaining in the quarter.
  • Tech led 28-12 after the first quarter.
  • Tech pushed its lead to as many as 23 (43-20) with 1:37 to go until halftime before settling into the break with a 21-point (45-24) advantage.
  • The two teams played a relatively even third quarter, as the Golden Suns' lead was 23 (74-51) after three.
  • The Golden Suns pushed the lead over 30 (89-58) with 6:10 to play, and the final 39-point margin of victory represented Tech's largest lead in the contest.
