GOLDEN SUNS BEGIN TOUGH ROAD STRETCH AT SOUTHERN ARKANSAS

Game Notes

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.
– The No. 15 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (18-2, 16-0 Great American Conference) will look to build their NCAA tournament resume as they start a tough two-game road stretch as they will head to Magnolia to take on Southern Arkansas (14-6, 10-6 GAC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Arkansas Tech and Southern Arkansas played each other back on Jan. 16 in Tucker Coliseum with the Golden Suns taking a 91-73 victory against the Muleriders. Tech will be looking for some payback against SAU however as the Muleriders won last season's meeting in Magnolia 57-52 back on Jan. 29, 2015.

THE SAU SERIES
It will be the 80th meeting all-time between Arkansas Tech and Southern Arkansas. The Golden Suns currently hold a 70-9 all-time mark against SAU ever since the two teams first met back on Nov. 29, 1977. Tech has won 19 of the last 20 meetings against Muleriders.

CLOSING IN ON A MILESTONE
Junior guard Anissa Pounds is trying to become the second Golden Sun this season to reach the 1000-point milestone. After scoring nine points against Ouachita Baptist on Thursday, Feb. 11, Pounds needs just 12 points to reach the 1000-point plateau.

FACING A FAMILIAR FOE
The Golden Suns will not only be taking on a vastly improved Southern Arkansas squad, but also former Arkansas Tech assistant coach Julio Pacheco. In his first season as the head coach of the Muleriders, Pacheco has Southern Arkansas sitting with the third-best record in the GAC with a 14-6 conference mark. Golden Suns head coach Dave Wilbers and Pacheco coached together for seven seasons at Arkansas Tech.

THE BROADCAST
The game will be carried live on 102.3-FM (KCJC) in Russellville. Sam Strasner will call the play-by-play while Kelly Davis will provide color analysis.
