RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech will host the final home volleyball match of the 2016 regular season on Tuesday, as the Golden Suns take on Harding. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tech will recognize three seniors on the team for Senior Night.
Fans are encouraged to bring unwrapped, new children's toys to the match, as Tech takes part in Toys for Tots.
The Golden Suns (20-10, 10-4 GAC) have won five consecutive matches, including three conference victories over Henderson State, Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas. Tech currently sits in a tie for second in the Great American Conference standings, one match behind Harding in first. The Golden Suns defeated Harding earlier this season, however, in three sets.
Harding (20-6, 11-3 GAC) is riding a seven-match win streak, with all seven victories coming in three sets. The Lady Bisons lead the GAC in hitting, opponent hitting and blocks. Zoe Hardin, Sara Smith and Emma Reeves are first, second and third in the GAC in individual hitting percentage. Hardin also leads Harding and the GAC in blocks per set, while Abigail Glosup sits second in the conference in assists per set.
Arkansas Tech ranks just behind Harding in hitting and opponent hitting, and the Golden Suns also rank second in assists. Tech leads the conference with just over 13 kills per set. The Golden Suns are led by three seniors,
Kaylee Konsella,
Haley Owen, and
McCall Wilkins.
In conference matches only, Konsella ranks seventh in the GAC with a .291 attack percentage. Wilkins is third on the team with 27 starts this season, while ranking second in blocks. Owen is averaging 1.66 kills per set in 14 matches this season.
