TECH DEFEATS LADY MULERIDERS FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Behind Hunter Eshnaur's 14th double-double of the season, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns defeated Southern Arkansas, 3-0, on Thursday. Set scores were 25-23, 25-23, 25-18.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first set featured 13 ties and seven lead changes, but four of the final five points of the game went to the Golden Suns. Tech (20-10, 10-4 GAC) posted a match-high .481 hitting percentage in the set, committing just two attack errors.
  • Southern Arkansas (9-19, 3-11 GAC) took the early advantage in the second set and maintained a lead throughout the game. The Golden Suns hung around, however, and finally made their move with a 5-0 run to end the set.
  • Tech's 17 kills in the second set were the highest by either team in the match. McCall Wilkins led the Golden Suns with five kills, while Amanda Milnick ended the set with three consecutive aces.
  • SAU took the first lead in the final set, as well, but a 10-3 run in the set eventually put the Golden Suns ahead, 18-14. Tech then claimed sixth of the final seven points, winning the match on a kill by Kaylee Konsella.
  • The Golden Suns limited the Lady Muleriders to a .152 hitting percentage in the third game, while Tech hit .353, including five kills and no errors from Konsella.

  • Tech's .364 hitting percentage is the second highest output by the Golden Suns in a GAC contest this season. The Golden Suns also tied a season-high in conference play with 46 kills in the three-set match.
  • Eshnaur's two attack errors are tied for the second lowest in a match this season, and her .440 hitting percentage in the win is the second highest in a match this year.

COACH BAYER SAYS
  • "We started off a little slow in each set, but we were able to finish strong. Our serve-receive struggled a bit, but when we did get in a groove passing, our offense was great."
  • "Matti Dix had some impressive hustle plays defensively. Amanda Milnick did a great job getting to the ball. Our passing was not great, but she was still able to put up a hittable ball."

NEXT UP
  • Tech returns to Tucker Coliseum on Tuesday, Nov. 8, for the final home match of the 2016 regular season. The Golden Suns will host Harding for senior night, with the GAC contest scheduled for 6 p.m.
