GOLDEN SUNS HANDLE SAVAGE STORM

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. –  The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns took a 3-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday, after limiting the Savage Storm to a .071 attack percentage. The Golden Suns have held their last four opponents to hit under .200, and Tech currently leads the GAC in opponent hitting percentage in conference matches.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tech (13-7, 5-1 GAC) took the first lead of the match after a service ace by Matti Dix. The Golden Suns did not surrender the lead for the rest of the set, taking the game 25-16.
  • Southeastern Oklahoma (8-10, 1-5 GAC) took its first lead of the match at 4-3 in the second set, but Tech took the lead right back on three straight points.
  • The Golden Suns extended their lead in the second set with a 7-2 run, which included consecutive aces by Amanda Milnick. Arkansas Tech later took the set, 25-19, on a kill by Lauren Rodemers.
  • The Savage Storm maintained the lead for much of the final set, but the Golden Suns forced a match-high nine attack errors while recording a match-high 15 kills to take the set, 25-20. Southeastern was held to hit just .023 in the final game.

NOTABLES
  • Tech hit .225 for the match, with Milnick leading the team with a .545 attack percentage.
  • Hunter Eshnaur led all players with 13 kills in the victory, followed by McCall Wilkins with 7. Milnick and Rodemers added six kills each.
  • Sarah Rosinke finished with a team-high 22 assists, with Milnick assisting on 12 kills.
  • Madison Nagel tied for a match-high 13 digs, and Dix recorded 12.

COACH BAYER SAYS
  • "I thought we played well in all areas tonight. Our offense was in sync, and our defense played really well together as a team."
  • "One of our goals tonight was to pass well in serve-receive, so we can run our offense effectively, and I thought we accomplished that."
  • "We were calm and collected throughout the entire match, and that really helped us control the pace of the game."
