RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech volleyball is set to host "Jersey Night" on Tuesday, as the Golden Suns take on Arkansas-Monticello in Tucker Coliseum. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
In an effort to donate to River Valley Food 4 Kids, fans are encouraged to bring soup to the volleyball match to support Tech's Fight On Against Childhood Hunger campaign.
With four matches remaining in the 2016 regular season, the Golden Suns (18-10, 8-4 GAC) sit in a tie for third in the Great American Conference. Tech's latest victory over Henderson State last Thursday clinched the Golden Suns a spot in the GAC Championships beginning on Nov. 17 in Hot Springs.
Arkansas-Monticello (11-13, 7-5 GAC) is tied for sixth in the GAC, as the Cotton Blossoms have won their past three matches. UAM has also won nine of its last 10 matches, with the only loss coming against Southern Nazarene on Oct. 15. The Blossoms are one of just three GAC teams to defeat first-place Oklahoma Baptist this season.
Tech leads the GAC in kills and assists per set during conference matches, while ranking second in team hitting and opponent hitting. Arkansas-Monticello boasts the third best hitting percentage in conference play, but the Blossoms are ninth in opponent hitting percentage.
Hunter Eshnaur leads the Golden Suns and is third in the GAC in points per set, while
Lauren Rodemers sits third in blocks and
Kaylee Konsella is seventh in hitting. UAM's Kendall Vondra is second in the GAC in assists per set, and Shay Mitchell ranks fourth, just behind Eshnaur, in kills per set during GAC contests.
