GOLDEN SUNS SET FOR WEEKEND ROAD TRIP

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech volleyball will be on the road for two Great American Conference matches this weekend, as the Golden Suns take on Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State.
 
The Golden Suns will be in Alva on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest with Northwestern, before heading south for Weatherford to take on Southwestern at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Arkansas Tech (14-7, 6-1 GAC) is currently riding a six-match win streak, in which the Golden Suns have not surrendered a set. The latest two victories for Tech came over Southeastern Oklahoma and East Central, keeping the Golden Suns tied for first in the GAC.
 
In conference matches only this season, Tech ranks first in the GAC in opponent hitting, assists and kills. Individually, Hunter Eshnaur leads the conference with 4.65 kills per set. She is also the only player in the GAC averaging over five points per set. Three Golden Suns sit in the top seven in conference hitting, with Lauren Rodemers' .380 attack percentage ranking second. Kaylee Konsella has hit .310 in GAC matches this season, and Eshnaur is right behind at .303.
 
Northwestern (3-19, 1-6 GAC) is coming off a non-conference loss to Fort Hays State on Tuesday, before the Rangers defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State earlier that day. The Rangers' lone conference victory came on Sept. 22, when Northwestern defeated Southwestern, 3-1. Northwestern is currently second in the GAC in services aces per set. Tech has won all four all-time matches against the Rangers.
 
Southwestern (5-13, 3-4 GAC) sits in a tie for seventh in the GAC standings, after a five-set victory over Southern Arkansas in the Bulldogs' latest GAC match. Southwestern hosted No. 10 Central Oklahoma on Monday, but were defeated, 3-0. Before hosting Tech on Saturday, the Bulldogs welcome Harding to Weatherford on Friday. The Bulldogs lead the conference in aces and digs per set in GAC matches this season. SWOSU's Carly Zak sits in second in kills and points, trailing only Eshnaur. The Golden Suns are 11-1 all-time against Southwestern.
