RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (12-2 overall, 10-0 Great American Conference) basketball team will look to stay unbeaten in GAC play, as they will host Arkansas-Monticello (8-5 overall, 6-4 GAC) on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. in Tucker Coliseum.

THE UAM SERIESThe Golden Suns and Cotton Blossoms will be playing each other for the 90th time in the two programs history dating back to 1977. The Golden Suns hold the edge over the Cotton Blossoms in the series with a 65-24 record against them and have won 14 straight dating back to 2009. In the last meeting, Tech defeated UAM 77-60 on Feb. 28, 2015 in Monticello and the last time the two teams met in Russellville, the Golden Suns came away with a 70-61 victory on Jan. 3, 2015.
SCOUTING THE COTTON BLOSSOMSUAM possesses the sixth-best scoring offense (69.6 ppg) and the sixth-best scoring defense (68.3 ppg) in the GAC and are successful in games decided by five points or less (3-1). The Cotton Blossoms are led by the top scorer in the GAC senior forward Jordan Goforth, who is averaging 23.8 ppg and is sixth in the conference in rebounding at eight per game. UAM is also led by senior guard Nikki Mullen (11.2 ppg, 4 apg) and freshman guard Ayesha Wahld (9.1 ppg 3 rpg).
DOUBLE DOWNFatima Adams is closely approaching a milestone 1000 points her Golden Suns career. Adams currently sits at 918 career points after recording her seventh double-double of the season with 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting and 11-of-13 from the free throw to go with her 14 rebounds at Henderson State on Thursday, Jan 21. It was the fourth time in her Golden Suns career that she eclipsed the 30-point mark in one game.
LETTING IT FLYIn Tech's win over Henderson State, the Golden Suns shot a season-high 33 three-point attempts against the Reddies zone defense and made 10, which was the second-most they've made in a single-game all season.

ON THE GLASSArkansas Tech is the top rebounding team in the GAC (+5.7 rebounding margin) and only improved upon that after its game against Henderson State. The Golden Suns outrebounded the Reddies 48-34, the third-most rebounds Tech has tallied in one game this season, which included 19 offensive rebounds, the second-most of any game this season since they recovered 23 offensive rebounds on Dec. 5 against Southern Nazarene.
