GOLDEN SUNS SET FOR ROAD CLASH WITH SAU

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Coming off a 3-1 weekend at its own tournament, the Arkansas Tech women's volleyball team gets its fifth Great American Conference season underway Tuesday with a roadtrip to Southern Arkansas for a 7 p.m. matchup.

The Golden Suns (5-3) picked up three wins last weekend, topping Midwestern State, Missouri Southern and Ouachita Baptist, while the Muleriders (4-5) went 1-3 at the South Central Classic at East Central.

Tech has won four of its last five matches overall, putting everything together in its final match for a 3-0 victory over OBU. Over their last 13 meetings, the Golden Suns have topped the Muleriders 12 times, including an 8-1 record with seven sweeps in four years of GAC play.

A pair of freshmen have been showing considerable talents for Tech over its first eight matches, as Hunter Eshnaur leads the team with 3.70 kills and 4.06 points per set and Sarita Stegall is tops on the squad with 7.33 assists per set. Eshnaur isn't the only attacking option for the Suns, with senior Katie Huff hitting .278 with 2.56 kills per set, junior Kaylee Konsella adding 2.41 kills per set and a .252 hitting percentage, and sophomore McCall Wilkins chipping in with 2.07 kills and a .222 percentage.

Sophomore Madison Nagel is providing 5.33 digs per set, with Kaci Jackson adding 2.89 and Eshnaur 2.15. Huff is also adding 1.00 blocks to the team average of 1.87 per set, and has posted six aces, tied with Jackson and two behind Nagel's eight.

The Muleriders feature four players chipping in with at least two digs per set, led by Serena LeDuff, who's put up 3.57 while adding eight aces. Shelby Lauterbach adds 2.63 kills, Alli O'Banion 2.21 and Emilie Aase 2.12 per set, with Aase hitting at a .329 clip. Setter Taylor Reaume has put up 9.69 assists per set and nine aces as the only player to start all nine matches for SAU.

Libero Hannah Rice is averaging 5.03 digs per set, while Kaitlyn Reiner adds 0.75 blocks. Allie Cecil and Paige Mays have made an appearance in almost every set, combining for 28 aces.
