Box Score BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team was held to six hits, while Henderson State's offense fired on all cylinders as the Golden Suns (38-19) fell to the Reddies (39-11) 9-4 on Thursday in a winner's bracket game at the Great American Conference tournament.
Henderson jumped ahead in the first inning with three quick runs, but the Golden Suns knotted the game quickly as
Ashley Savage smashed a two-run single in the bottom of the frame and
Shanna Davidson scampered home on a wild pitch one inning later.
The Reddies came back with two runs in the fourth and one in the sixth to pull ahead 6-3, before Arkansas Tech was able to pull to within 6-4 on an RBI grounder by
Alex Edinger in the bottom of the sixth.
However, HSU reeled off three more insurance runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
The Golden Suns will square off against Southern Nazarene in an elimination contest at 11 a.m. Friday. The game will be carried live on 100.9-FM (KWKK) in Russellville, with streaming audio and video available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
