ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
Bohdana Sardak and
Olga Leyshyna cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Annie Shannon and Amanda Korinihona,
Camila Roca and
Tamara Bell took an 8-1 win over Sara Griffin and Hannah Watson at No. 2 doubles, while
Laura Sanchez and
Vandella Suico were 8-2 winners at the No. 3 doubles position as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns tennis team (14-3) swept to a 9-0 win over Henderson State on Wednesday.
Holding a 3-0 lead after the doubles points, the Golden Suns locked up the win with a trio of straight-set wins in singles play. Sardak downed Griffin at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1, Leyshyna picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Korinihona at No. 3 singles, and Suico was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 6 singles over Reaves.
The remaining singles points were back-and-forth affairs, but the Golden Suns captured the point in each. Bell was a 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 winner over Shannon at No. 1 singles, Sanchez rallied to take a 6-7 (3), 6-1, 10-4 decision at No. 4 singles, while Roca also rallied in a 2-6, 6-4, 12-10 win at No. 5 singles.
Arkansas Tech returns to action on Saturday, April 11, facing Southern Nazarene in a 1 p.m. match at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
