LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –
Bohdana Sardak and
Olga Leyshyna rolled to an 8-0 win over the Harding duo of Katie Huff and Arielle Butler at No. 1 doubles,
Tamara Bell and
Camila Roca were 8-0 winners over Emily Faulkner and Kaylie Brown at No. 2 doubles, while
Laura Sanchez and
Vandella Suico picked up an 8-5 win over Piper Huey and Sydni Sansom at No. 3 doubles to lead the way for the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns tennis team (17-3, 5-1 Great American Conference) in an 8-1 win over Harding on Sunday.
The win earns the Golden Suns a share of the Great American Conference regular-season title, alongside Southeastern Oklahoma. East Central can claim a share on Monday with a win over Harding.
The Golden Suns' lone setback came at the top singles position, as Huey downed Bell 6-4, 7-6 (0) at No. 1 singles. However, five straight-set wins at the No. 2 through No. 6 positions were more than enough for the Golden Suns to pick up the win.
Sardak downed Butler 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles position, Leyshyna was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Huff at No. 3, Sanchez downed Faulkner 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4, Roca was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Brown at No. 5, while Suico picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6 over Sansom.
The Golden Suns return to action April 24-25 at the Great American Conference championship in Bentonville, Ark. Seedings and matchups are to be determined.
