WONDER BOYS DOWN RANGERS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Senior Keenan Jumper led the Wonder Boys by going 4-for-4 with three RBIs on the day as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys (25-17, 11-10 GAC) defeated the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers (17-24, 8-17 GAC) by a score of 15-1 today at Tech Field.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the second game of the doubleheader was pushed to Monday. The two teams will wrap their three-game set with a doubleheader at Tech Field scheduled for noon on Monday.

An RBI single by Jumper in the second inning put the Wonder Boys on the board, and Tech would extend its lead to 3-0 later in the inning on a two-run double by Rafiel Johnson. Mark Vaughn's RBI double capped theinning and gave the Wonder Boys a 4-0 lead after two.

Patrick Castleberry led off the third with a solo homer, and Collin O'Neil later added a two-run single to push the Tech to 7-0 after three.

The hit parade continued in the fourth, as Jumper's two-run single stretched the Tech lead to 9-0, and an error and sacrifice fly in the fifth pushed the Tech lead to a commanding 11-0 margin.

The Rangers used a solo homer to get on the board in the sixth, cutting the Wonder Boys' lead to 11-1, but a bases-loaded walk to Caleb McKinnon followed by another two-run double by Johnson and another sacrifice fly gave the Wonder Boys a 15-1 advantage.

The Rangers went in order in the seventh, sealing the run-rule victory for the Wonder Boys.

Starting pitcher Trent Armstrong went the distance pitching all seven innings allowing only one run off of five hits, walking none and striking out five. O'Neil and Johnson had three hits apiece in the win, while Vaughn and Castleberry added two each.
