KISSIMMEE, Fla. –
Bohdana Sardak and
Olga Leyshyna outdueled the Colorado Mesa duo of Kristyn Wykert and Rachel McLaughlin 8-5 at the No. 1 singles position,
Camila Roca and
Tamara Bell were 8-2 winners at No. 2 doubles over Emily Dodson and Amy Beeston, while
Vandella Suico and
Laura Sanchez won a tight 9-8 (7) decision at No. 3 doubles over Natalie Martin and Katie Kirby to lead the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns tennis team (9-2) to a 9-0 sweep of Colorado Mesa on Monday.
Taking a 3-0 lead into singles play, Arkansas Tech picked up straight-set wins from Bell and Sardak at the top two singles positions, as Bell downed Martin 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles and Sardak picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Wykert at No. 2 singles to provide the decisive fifth point.
Leyshyna was a 7-6 (2), 6-2 winner at No. 3 singles over Rachel McLaughlin, Sanchez downed Kirby 6-3, 7-6 (5) at the No. 4 singles spot, Suico picked up an 8-4 win at No. 6 singles while Roca had to rally to win a 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 decision at No. 5 singles to seal the sweep.
The Golden Suns will continue play on their Florida swing on Tuesday, facing West Virginia State at 11:30 a.m.
