Box Score 2 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Syndee Clark threw a no hitter in game one, while senior
Victoria Huie and freshman
Morgan Vaughan combined in the second game allowing just three hits to help lead Arkansas Tech (18-6, 9-3 GAC) to a series sweep against Southern Arkansas (14-11, 6-7 GAC), winning the day's opener 7-0 before taking a 11-1 win in the nightcap.
The Golden Suns plated one run in the top of the first to take the lead in the opener, off of a
Whitney Robinson solo home run. Although the Suns were quiet in the second, they returned in the top of the third plating two as
Alex Edinger and
Kambri Hill scored on an
Ashley Savage RBI single to make the score 3-0.
The Suns returned to the board in the top of the fifth as
Jalissa Gum started the inning off with a triple to right center, then was driven in by a
Samantha Herweck single to right field, making the score 4-0.
Chelsea Reeves advanced Herweck to second with a single to left field, as Robinson came up big with a two run double to center, putting tech ahead, 6-0.
Tech continued their onslaught scoring a run in the top of the six as
Courtney Colunga scored on an error, making the score 7-0. Clark went the distance on the mound as she worked around three walks and had a total of four strikeouts.

Kristina McSweeney said, "You're going to see more of Sydnee, she is just going to keep getting better and better."
In the nightcap the Golden Suns put up two runs in the top of the first courtesy of a two run Colunga home run, putting Tech ahead 2-0.
The Suns chalked up four more runs in the top of the second. Davidson scored on an error, and Colunga added an RBI single to push Tech's lead to 4-0. A two-run homer by Gum stretched the Golden Suns lead to 6-0.
Arkansas Tech pushed its run to 7-0 in the third inning on an RBI grounder.
The Lady Muleriders finally got in the board in the bottom of the fourth but the Golden Suns would hold them from there, adding four insurance runs in the top of the fifth.
Miranda Dupree drove in a pair of runs on a two-run double, and after advancing to third, took home as Davidson was caught stealing at second. An RBI single by
Alicia Lowrey capped the scoring and gave Tech its final 11-1 lead.
Victoria Huie ossed the first four innings, working around three hits to allow just one earned run and striking out three batters.
Morgan Vaughan replaced her in the middle of the fourth keeping the Lady Muleriders off the board.
"This was a really good weekend, the girls were really excited to come out and play," McSweeney said, "We had four great wins against a really tough SAU team. I couldn't have asked them to play better."
The Golden Suns will return to action at 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon against Harding with a doubleheader at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
