PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Senior
Olga Leyshyna was dominant, winning every point in a 6-0, 6-0 victory over UAPB's Terra Poyner as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns tennis team (1-1) swept to a 7-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-5) on Tuesday.
In a match contested under Division I rules, awarding one point to the overall doubles winner, the Golden Suns picked up a default win at the No. 3 spot. The duo of Leyshyna and
Bohdana Sardak took a hard-fought 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles over Monico Arcos and Elizabeth Perez while
Tamara Bell and
Camila Roca swept to a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles over the UAPB duo of Kristen Moore and Terra Poyner.
Leyshyna's perfect outing was one of three 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Golden Suns in singles play, as
Laura Sanchez downed Moore at No. 4 singles and
Vandella Suico downed Destiny Jones at No. 5 singles by the same score.
Bell battled to a 6-4, 7-5 victory at the top singles spot over Perez, while Sardak took a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles against Arcos.
Tech won its second default point at the No. 6 singles position.
The Golden Suns return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18, traveling to Hendrix for a 5 p.m. match.
