GOLDEN SUNS FALL LATE AGAINST NO. 4 DRURY

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Despite leading for three-and-a-half quarters, the Golden Suns shooting went ice cold in the fourth quarter and No. 4 Drury used a 15-0 run to pull away with a 71-64 victory over No. 19 Arkansas Tech Monday afternoon in Springfield, Mo.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Golden Suns got off to a hot start with Fatima Adams scoring Tech's first five points and jumping out to a 5-2 lead to start the game.

  • After falling behind 13-7 at the first media timeout of the 1st quarter, the Golden Suns close out the 1st quarter on a 10-3 run to take a 17-16 lead.

  • Tech started out hot in the second quarter, jumping out to a 32-23 lead off with a pair of three-pointers by Calli White and Anissa Pounds sparking the run.

  • With Drury trailing 37-32 with a chance at the final shot at the half, Adams picked off a pass in the lane to keep the Panthers from cutting into the Tech lead going into halftime.

  • After falling behind 44-43 early in the third quarter, the Golden Suns were effective at getting to the free throw line. They regained a 52-44 lead with a 9-0 run sparked by going 7-for-8 from the free throw line during the run.

  • Tech managed to take a 57-50 lead into the fourth quarter due to an excellent third quarter performance from Anissa Pounds. Pounds scored 11 points in the third quarter, doing most of the damage from the charity stripe by going 8-for-8 in the period.

  • The fourth quarter turned into a defensive grind, as both teams only scored six points going into the under five minute timeout.

  • Tech went ice cold in the final 4:39, as Drury finished out the game with a 15-2 run to pull out the 71-64 victory.
