Box Score ADA, Okla. – Hunter Eshnaur turned in a 10-kill performance, while
Sarita Stegall dished out 25 assists and added 13 digs as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (13-5, 7-0 Great American Conference) remained perfect in league play with a 3-0 sweep of East Central (3-13, 0-6 GAC) on Friday night in Ada.
"I was proud of the way our team performed during this first Oklahoma trip," said Golden Suns head coach
Kristy Bayer. "We were able to take care of business in three tonight, which was our goal. We saw good production off the bench from
Sara Stovall."
Stovall saw action in two sets, and had eight kills with a .538 hitting percentage.
Tech captured a 25-17 win in the opening set before taking a dominant 25-6 win in set two, closing out the match with a 25-23 win in the third set. Stegall's 13 digs were a match high, while
Madison Nagel added seven digs and
Hunter Eshnaur contributed five more. Eshnaur added four service aces in the winning effort.
"Sarita played great defense tonight," added Bayer, "and Hunter's serve has really helped push our momentum."
Tech held a .291 to .176 hitting advantage, outhitting ECU .524 to .095 in the second set. The Golden Suns played nearly flawless offensive volleyball that set, committing just one error to 12 kills on 21 swings. Tech's largest statistical advantage came from the service line, as Tech notched 10 service aces to ECU's three.
Kaci Jackson and
Kaylee Konsella both added two aces in the win.
The Golden Suns return to action on Friday, October 16, opening a four-match homestand at Tucker Coliseum against Southwestern Oklahoma. A 6 p.m. start is scheduled.
Tech will follow with a Saturday matinee against Northwestern Oklahoma.
"We have two very tough opponents coming up," said Bayer. "We have to maintain our focus as we prepare this week."
