GOLDEN SUNS TOP CAMERON, WILLIAMS BAPTIST

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.Kaylee Konsella led the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (12-5) with double-digit kills in both matches, while hitting .346 against Cameron and .435 against Williams Baptist, Sierra Nighswonger dished out 57 assists against Cameron and 38 against Williams Baptist as the Golden Suns picked up a pair of wins on Tuesday, getting a 3-1 win over Cameron (5-7) and a 3-0 win over Williams Baptist (10-9).

The Golden Suns won the first set against Cameron 25-22 before the Aggies evened the match with a 25-22 win of their own in the second set. Tech came back to win sets three and four by scores of 25-18 and 25-23 to seal the win.

Tech outhit Cameron, .250 to .181, while hitting .311 in the second set. Konsella led all players with 25 kills and hit .346, while Katie Huff had 12 kills, hit .296 and had four blocks.

Madison Nagel added 25 digs, while Emily Todd followed with a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs.

"Kaylee Konsella had a really strong offensive day for us," said Golden Suns head coach Kristy Bayer. "She did a good job putting the ball away for us."

In the second match, the Golden Suns swept past Williams Baptist with set wins of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-15. The Golden Suns outhit the Eagles .301 to .176. Huff hit .438 with 10 kills, while Konsella turned in another match high with a 12-kill performance.

"Even though we came away with two wins today, it still wasn't our best day," Bayer said. "We are going to take it easy the next couple days and focus, and return to conference play and focus in on Southeastern (Oklahoma) and East Central."

The Golden Suns return to action with a pair of matches this weekend. The Suns play Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. against Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, Okla. and then travel to Ada, Okla. to take on East Central in a 2 p.m. match.
