Katie Huff had a 16-kill performance, hitting .625, while
Kaci Jackson had a nine-kill, 12-dig performance as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (6-3, 2-0 Great American Conference) remained undefeated in conference play, sweeping to a 3-0 win over Ouachita Baptist (6-2, 1-1 GAC) on Tuesday night.
After the Golden Suns captured a 25-15 win in the opening set, Tech won identical 25-17 victories in the second and third sets to seal the win.
"We played unbelievably tonight," said Arkansas Tech head coach
Kristy Bayer. "I was impressed with how Sierra (Nighswonger) ran the offense. Our middles,
McCall Wilkins and
Katie Huff, were aggressive and dynamic. This was a solid road win."
Emily Todd joined the double-figure kill totals with a 10-kill performance. Nighswonger dished out 41 assists, adding 11 digs, while
Madison Nagel led all players with 14 digs. Tech hit .402 for the match, holding the Tigers to a .198 mark.
After seven ties and one lead change in the opening set, the Golden Suns were able to hold OBU at arm's length the remainder of the way, seeing just three ties and one lead change over the final two sets.
The Golden Suns return to action this Friday, opening a four-match homestand against Lubbock Christian. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
