GOLDEN SUNS ROLL PAST SOUTHERN NAZARENE

Tech will play their final doubleheader of the regular season tomorrow.

BETHANY, Okla.—Whitney Robinson went 5-for-5 at the plate with an RBI in game one while Chelsea Reeves starred in game two with two hits and four RBIs as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (29-25, 17-21 Great American Conference) softball team rolled past the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm (19-32, 12-24 GAC), taking game one 5-4 and game two 9-1 in Bethany, Okla. on Friday.

The Golden Suns picked up a run in second inning to put the first number on the board after Courtney Colunga hit a leadoff homerun to put Tech on top 1-0 in game one. The teams traded scoreless innings until the fifth inning whereTech upped their lead to 3-0 after RBIs from Jalissa Gum and Ashley Keen. In the bottom of the fifth, the Crimson Storm scored four runs on four hits to take their first lead of the game at 4-3.

Robinson helped Tech tie it up at 4-4 when she gained her fourth hit of the day on a solo home run to right field. After holding Southern Nazarene in the sixth and seventh, the Golden Suns finally finished off Southern Nazarene when Ashley Savage hit the go-ahead solo homer in the eighth for the 5-4 win.

The Golden Suns collected 10 hits with five of those coming from Robinson, two from Colunga, and one each from Gum, Keen, and Savage.

Sydnee Clark was solid on the mound yet again to pick up her 15th win of the season. She gave up four earned runs and seven hits in 8.0 innings.

The Golden Suns offense stayed hot heading into the second game, scoring seven runs in the first two innings. Reeves blasted a three-run homer to help Tech score four runs in the top of the first while Colunga, Keen, and Reeves all picked up an RBI in the second inning to make it a quick 7-0 lead.

The pitching was strong in game two as well, with Victoria Huie giving up just one earned run in the fifth inning. She improved to 10-13 on the year.

Tech finished the game scoring two runs in the fourth inning while giving up the lone run in the fifth for the 9-1 run rule victory.

Tech's offense has found a rhythm this week with double-digit hits in their last four games. In game two against the Crimson Storm, the Golden Suns had 14 hits from seven different batters. Gum, Colunga, Keen, Reeves, and Shanna Davidson all had multiple hits in game two.

The Golden Suns will wrap up their regular season with a doubleheader tomorrow against the Crimson Storm at noon.
