ADAMS LIFTS UNDEFEATED GOLDEN SUNS OVER REDDIES

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.Fatima Adams notched her fifth consecutive double-double, with a 28-point, 12-rebound performance, Katrina Hayden scored 14 points with six rebounds and seven assists, while Jacinda Myers-Sanders turned in a 12-point, five-rebound effort to lead the No. 24 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (7-0, 2-0 Great American Conference) to a 70-56 win over Henderson State (2-7, 0-4) on Saturday at the Duke Wells Center.

Henderson State controlled the pace in the early going, pulling ahead by as many as five points (14-9) with 14:18 to play in the opening half.  A 5-0 run by the Golden Suns, capped by a 3-point play by Caroline Eubanks tied the game at 14-14 four minutes later.

The tie was the first of four ties over the next six minutes, with the final tie coming when Fabiana Monte knotted the game at 22-22 after hitting a pair of free throws at the 4:54 mark. Tech outscored HSU 10-4 over the final minutes of the half to go into the break with a 32-26 lead.

HSU opened the second half hot, using a 9-0 run to pull ahead by three points (35-32) after an Aungelique Sledge 3-pointer. HSU and Tech were tied as late as the 14:16 mark, when the two teams were knotted at 41-41. However, a 10-2 run by the Golden Suns put the score at 51-43 with 10:50 to play, and the Golden Suns would create separation from there, pushing the margin into double digits and never looking back, leading by as many as 15 (69-54) with 1:10 to play.

The Golden Suns held a slight shooting advantage (34.3 to 32.1) while holding a 48-42 rebounding advantage. Tech forced 19 HSU turnovers while outscoring the Reddies 42-24 in the paint, and 18-5 on second-chance points.
