Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY – Katrina Hayden scored a game-high 23 points, while
Fatima Adams chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (5-0) remained undefeated with an 81-67 win over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at the Eagles' Nest.
The Golden Suns pushed ahead, taking as much as a six-point (10-4) lead just over four minutes into the contest, but OC used an 8-1 run to pull to within one (12-11) with 13:51 to play. Adams hit a bucket in the paint to create some separation between the teams, but just two minutes later the game was tied at 14-14.
The game was tied as late as the 6:22 mark in the first half when the score was 25-25, but the Golden Suns went on a 10-0 run to take a 35-25 lead with 3:24 to go until halftime. OC was able to narrow the margin to 37-33 at the half.
The Golden Suns scored the first six points of the second half to push the lead to ten (43-33) with 18:07 to go, but after a 3-pointer by OC's Logan McKee, the Golden Suns' lead was cut to four (43-39) with 17:17 to play.
An 8-0 Arkansas Tech run pushed the Tech lead back into the double digits (51-39), and Tech would lead by double figures the rest of the way, leading by as many as 19 (68-49) with 6:54 to play after a Hayden 3-pointer.
Mary Crow added ten points off the bench for Arkansas Tech. The Golden Suns outshot OC 44.8 to 39.6 percent, while holding a 40-33 rebounding advantage.
Tech held a 40-22 advantage in points in the paint, while notching 13 steals. Adams and
Anissa Pounds had four steals apiece.
Arkansas Tech returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 4, opening Great American Conference play against Ouachita Baptist at Tucker Coliseum. A 5:30 p.m. tip is scheduled.
