Sierra Nighswonger dished out 45 assists with two aces and seven digs, while
Katie Huff had a 12-kill performance with two blocks and led the team hitting .370, as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (18-5) defeated Mid-America Christian (3-19) 3-1.
"Although we came away with a win, it wasn't easy. Mid-America outplayed us defensively tonight," said head coach
Kristy Bayer. "We were also too high-error. Huff and Wilkins were able to terminate well in the middle tonight."
"We need to get our defensive intensity back before tomorrow night."
After losing the first set 26-24, Tech rallied back to the win the next three sets 25-14, 25-17, and 25-13, helping the Golden Suns win their tenth straight match.
McCall Wilkins added 12 kills, five digs and hit. 231,
Madison Nagel had a 20-dig performance, while
Emily Todd dished out ten kills and nine digs, as the Tech outhit Mid-America .225 to .161, hitting match-best .300 in the third set.
The Golden Suns will return to action on Friday, October 17, facing Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla. in a 7 p.m. contest.
