Maggie Davis enters her first year as the head women's cross country / track and field coach at Arkansas Tech after being hired to the roll in July 2026.
A native of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Davis, comes to Tech after spending the past year as an assistant cross country/track and field coach at the University of Georgia. In that year, Davis helped guide the women’s track and field program to a national championship sweep, winning both the Indoor Track and Field National Championship as well as the Outdoor National Championship.

On the cross country side at Georgia, Davis assisted in the men’s program finishing in 24th at the DI National Championship, which marked the first trip to nationals for the Georgia men since 2013. On the women’s side, the Bulldogs ended the year ranked No. 9 in the South Region and finished 11th as a team at the South Region Championship.

Prior to Georgia, Davis worked for two seasons at Black Hills State University, a DII school in Spearfish, N.D. At Black Hills, Davis directly coached long sprint/middle distance track and field runners and assisted in coaching long distance track and cross country athletes.

Competing in the highly-competitive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and South Central Region on both women’s and men’s sides, Davis helped mentor three all-region runners and two national championship competitors in cross country. In track and field, ??? athletes qualified to compete at nationals.

A Spring 2022 graduate with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Dietetics & Exercise Science from Iowa State University, Davis was a middle-distance runner for the Cyclones. During her five years, she was named Academic All-Big 12 First Team five times, was nine times named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll and was heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), serving as co-leader.

At the conclusion of her collegiate athletic career, Davis began her coaching career as a volunteer cross country and track and field assistant at her alma mater, doing so for a year in 2022-23.

In addition to her cross country and track and field experience, Davis is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and served as a strength and conditioning intern with the wrestling, swimming and diving and football programs during her undergrad years in 2017 and 2018 while also holding intern stints at North Dakota State in the summer of 2019 and Northwest Missouri State in the summer of 2018.
