Played four years for coach Marco Samardzic at St. Mary’s High School in St. Louis, earning three letters as an outfielder, infielder and pitcher while serving as team captain for one season. … Hit first home run on team’s new field in his senior season, finishing the game 3-for-3 with the homer, two triples and six RBIs. … Also earned four letters for the St. Mary’s football team, picking up all-conference honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman, as well as a second-team all-state nod on defense, as a senior.
