Jonathan Estes enters into his second year as an assistant baseball coach at Arkansas Tech.
In his first year, Estes helped lead the Wonder Boys to a 38-20 overall record and a 23-10 mark in the GAC to claim a share of the regular season championship. The Wonder Boys would go on to advance to the championship game of the GAC Tournament that year and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Central Region Tournament as the No. 3-seed.
Estes comes to Tech after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas-Rich Mountain in Mena, Arkansas where he helped establish the program. His last three years at UA-Rich Mountain saw Estes ascend to full-time assistant and director of baseball operations after serving as a volunteer assistant in his first year.

In that first season, Estes helped the Bucks explode on the NJCAA radar as they finished runner-up in their region and produced an offense that ranked top-20 nationally in hits, doubles, home runs and RBIs.

After that, Estes continued to build up the UA-Rich Mountain program and in 2022, the Bucks won their region’s regular season championship and were ranked as high as No. 9 in the NJCAA national polls. Again, the offense was stout ranking in the top-20 nationally in runs, doubles, triples and RBIs.

This past season, Estes helped the Bucks finish fourth in the region and the offense rank in the top-30 in hits, doubles and home runs.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience at UA-Rich Mountain, Estes has coaches summer ball with the Arkansas Sticks 16U team in 2021 and with the Fort Lauderdale Knights in the South Florida Collegiate League in 2020.

As a player, Estes made stops at Central Baptist College and Arkansas Baptist College before ending his career at Williams Baptist University. During his collegiate playing days, Estes was a three-time academic all-conference selection.

Estes also was a standout prep player at Palestine-Wheatley High School where he helped lead his team to four state tournament appearances, two conference championships, three district championships and two regional titles. Individually, Estes was a two-time all-state selection and a three-time all-district selection.

He is married to the former Hannah Crafton and the couple have a dog, Harper.
